About
My photography explores the beauty of the transient, the kind and the flawed. I photograph primarily natural landscapes through a poetic, atmospheric perspective. My goal in each image is to create art that evokes emotion and provides an ethereal narrative about our connections with nature, time, and one another. I seek to share brief moments when the veil lifts on secrets known only to the shadows and the light, and to capture images that cannot be defined by time. My work is largely inspired by music, history, literature, and mystery, and these themes are frequently easy to identify in my images.
A deeply raw and personal approach to photography allows me to capture multi-faceted photos that I hope will serve as a starting point for a story – one that will be shaped by each viewer's unique perspective. My images are crafted of shadow and light, flavoured by my memories, and imbued with the enchantment of the unknown. I am endlessly intrigued by the alchemy and peace of natural landscapes. Everywhere I look, I see a patchwork of stories born, and stories yet to be told. My hope is for my photography to inspire others to ponder how they fit into this patchwork of nature and the unknown.
Creating poetic visual art is an extension of my very being. My world of photography exists between the seen and the unseen, the loud and the quiet, the mysterious and the known. Where the tangible meets the abstract. “Where the spirit meets the bone.” - Miller Williams

Artist Statement
Biography
Megan Berardelli is an award-winning Canadian fine art photographer based in Ottawa, Canada. Megan’s work seeks to translate the natural world through an ethereal and timeless narrative. Her photographic artwork is an interpretive investigation of landscape, both as a literal place and a subjective concept. Megan is self-educated through years of trial and experimentation which has led to the development of her distinctive style. As she honed her creative process over the years, Megan has moved away from trying to create the perfectly timed technical image. She now strives to capture moments that evoke emotion and do not feel bound by time.
Moments at the intersection of causeless joy and meaning are where Megan draws much of her inspiration. A principal theme of ephemeral connection is evident across her work and is conveyed through her use of texture, layers and delicate atmosphere. Her work is largely guided by literature and music that examine perspective, elusiveness and beguilement of nature. Providing her viewers with a sense of deep connection and exploration into where the tangible meets the abstract is her ultimate goal. Megan’s photography has been exhibited internationally in galleries and publications across Canada, the United States, and the UK and is held by collectors across North America and Europe.
